Art Spin promises a range of art experiences, and July’s tour includes everything from an installation by Svava Juliusson to a musical performance at Somewhere There Studios in association with Music in Galleries, and will be led by trumpeting cyclist Michael L. Johnson. Other stops this month include: an installation by Dennis Lin at 47 Milky Way, a live performance by Cara Spooner and Alicia Grant, a group exhibition at Lausberg Contemporary and a photography exhibition by Hanna Hur and Laurie Kang at The Department with a meet and greet after party to follow.
Art Spin is a bicycle led, guided art tour of Toronto’s west end art district. Each tour will consist of visits to art galleries, art performances and artist’s studios. Each Art Spin outing will feature guest tour guides, be they curators, arts administrators or artists, who have a strong sense of the pulse of the city's art scene. With changing itineraries, each tour visits different art spaces and events, featuring some of the city's most engaging, emerging and established artists. This interactive and exciting community based art event will allow participants to experience art in unique places and spaces, with performances, installations and other site-specific works prepared specifically as a part of Art Spin.
Art Spin is set to take place on the last Wednesday of June and the last Thursday of the month from July to September 2010. Art Spin meets at the gate to Trinity Bellwoods Park at Queen St. & Strachan Ave., between 6:30 - 7 pm and the event concludes around 9 pm. It’s a free event, and anyone regardless of age or cycling ability is welcome.
